KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) volunteers were called to a familiar task location Sunday (Sept. 6) to help out a hiker in need.

According to a post on social media, KSAR was called to the Tranquille Slot Canyon Trail just before 4:00 p.m. Sunday. A hiker was reported to have become exhausted an unable to make her way out. A group of volunteers had already tried to help the hiker to safety but ultimately required further assistance.

Fourteen KSAR members assembled at the scene, including a rope rescue team. The first team to reach the hiker deemed the woman unable to safely walk to safety, even with their help.

While a helicopter was en route to the area, another group of volunteers located a landing zone while the woman was prepared for an airlift. The volunteers then carried the woman about 200 metres to meet the helicopter at the landing zone.
