TNRD announces final round of free appliance disposal for returning Clinton-area evacuees

CLINTON, B.C. — Evacuees who have returned home from weeks away due to the Pear Lake wildfire may go home to find rancid food and damaged fridges and freezers, but the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) is helping with their disposal.
The TNRD began accepting fridges and freezers at the Clinton Eco-Depot for free from properties that were evacuated due to the Pear Lake wildfire on Aug. 15, with curbside pickup options available.
The TNRD said the final curbside pickup days are set for Friday (Sept. 4) for Squamish-Lillooet Regional District properties and Sunday (Sept. 6) for Village of Clinton and TNRD properties. There may be an additional pickup day on Friday, September 11 if needed.
“If you have a fridge or freezer requiring pickup at the curb for disposal, please contact the TNRD Emergency Operations Centre at 250-377-7188 to arrange for pickup,” said TNRD officials.
