‘Solace’ to provide 40 shelter beds aimed at older populations
KAMLOOPS — A new modular build along Glenfair Drive in Kamloops will help fill a needed gap in the housing continuum. A new year-round shelter will feature 40 beds designed for older adults.
“We know there is a need – here, in particular – for seniors to have that place to go that is safe, so that is why there is a focus to it,” said then-Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon in Kamloops on June 24, 2024.
More than two years after Kahlon made the biggest housing announcement in Kamloops’ history with 500 new units, the second project has come to fruition, with the opening of Solace.
