YKA receives $1.3 million in federal funding to upgrade electrical infrastructure

KAMLOOPS — More than $1 million in upgrades will be coming to Fulton Field. 

The federal government announced Wednesday (Aug. 26) that Kamloops Airport (YKA) will receive $1,349,057 to replace and upgrade its electrical infrastructure. It’s part of the Ministry of Transport’s commitment of $23.5 million to improve and replace aging infrastructure at six local and regional airports in B.C. 

“Local and regional airports are lifelines for many communities across British Columbia,” Transportation Minister Steven MacKinnon states. “These investments will help maintain safe and efficient airport operations, improve the movement of people and goods, and strengthen the transportation links that connect British Columbians to jobs, services, and the rest of the country.” 

YKA was the only southern interior airport to receive this round of federal funding. Other airports selected were Bella Coola, Fort Nelson, Masset, Prince Rupert and Smithers.
