Broncos put up three touchdowns, fall to Kodiaks at home 36-23

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Broncos scored more points in one game than they did throughout the entire 2026 BC Football Conference (BCFC) season so far, but it wasn’t enough for them to earn their first win since 2024.

The Broncos fell to the Prince George Kodiaks at home Saturday (Aug. 22) 36-23.

After trailing the Kodiaks 17-0 after the first quarter, the Broncos came galloping back to tie the game at 17-17 at halftime. However, the Kodiaks responded with 16 points in the third quarter en route to the 36-23 win.

Running back Mackenzie Ellis led the way offensively for the Broncos, running for 98 yards and a touchdown, while also earning 23 receiving yards. Wide receiver Lloyd Heggen also ran 18 yards for a touchdown, while quarterback Jan Djoumessi earned a rushing touchdown as well.

The Broncos fall to 0-5 on the season. Kamloops is last overall in the BCFC standings. They trail the 3-2 Vancouver Island Raiders and 3-2 Westshore Rebels by six points for the two final BCFC playoff spots.

The Broncos visit the 0-4 Valley Huskers at Exhibition Stadium in Chilliwack on Saturday, Aug. 29, in search of their first win of the season.

Kamloops’ junior football club returns home on Saturday, Sept. 5 to welcome the Okanagan Sun of Kelowna to Hillside Stadium. Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m.
