Tent fire discovered near Riverside Walking Path

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) and a Community Services Officer (CSO) were quick to act to put out a fire on Friday (Aug. 21) morning in Riverside Park. 

The blaze sparked on the river bank near the walking path in between Overlanders Bridge and the tennis courts in what appeared to be an encampment, said KFR captain Darryl Damini. 

“A CSO saw it coming across the Overlanders Bridge and they were on scene first,” Damini said.  

When KFR arrived, it found what was left of the tent and some open flame, noting it mopped up after CSO attacked the blaze with a fire extinguisher.
