In a news release, the Blazers note Evaschesen was committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2026-27. Instead, the Medicine Hat native will play for his hometown team in his final season of junior eligibility.

Evaschesen signed with the Blazers ahead of the 2025-26 WHL season. In his lone season with the Blazers, Evaschesen finished fourth in team scoring with 33 goals and 73 points in 67 games. He added one assist in four playoff games.

Prior to his Kamloops stint, Evaschesen scored five goals and 15 points in 34 games with the Trail Smoke Eaters in the BC Hockey League.

The Blazers now have 12 picks in the first five rounds of the 2027 WHL Prospects Draft. That includes two first round picks, two second round picks and three third round picks.

The Blazers begin their six-game pre-season schedule Wednesday, Sept. 2, when they welcome the Penticton Vees to Sandman Centre at 7:00 p.m.

The Blazers will play the Victoria Royals in their home opener Saturday, Sept. 19 at 6:00 p.m. from Sandman Centre.
