Dry conditions return to fuel Ainslie Creek wildfire
MERRITT — Firefighters battling the advance of the Ainslie Creek wildfire will have to deal with more hot, dry weather following a brief reprieve over the weekend.
According to the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), some areas around the 65,309.88-hectare blaze had some rainfall on Friday (Aug 14), with others getting more humidity, helping to moderate fire behavior over the last few days.
But that break was short-lived, as hot, dry conditions have returned with no rain in the forecast until the weekend.
“Fire behaviour is expected in increase slightly today in the east and northeast as drying continues,” said the BCWS
