Smoke clears, but air-quality concerns linger for young Kamloops families
KAMLOOPS – Three-year-old Heidi was in her element, splashing and frolicking under clear skies and sunshine on Friday [Aug. 14] morning in the Prince Charles Park wading pool.
Her father, Jonah Woodward, was nearby and lamenting the scarcity of smoke-free summer days in recent weeks.
“Typically, what we’ve been doing during the summer is we go down to Riverside Park, come here and go to McArthur Island, and it’s a little tough to do when it’s that smoky out,” Woodward said. “I think it’s been increasingly worse. I think we had a reprieve for the last three years or so, but this year … I’ve never seen three to four [consecutive] weeks of smoke.”
