BCWS taking on three new small lightning-caused fires near Clearwater
CLEARWATER, B.C. — The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has crews on the ground taking on three newly sparked wildfires in the Clearwater area.
The three fires (K21560, K21562, and K21567) are all believed to have been caused by lightning strikes hitting the region on Wednesday (Aug. 12) and are each about 0.009 hectares in size.
K21560 – near Richie Creek – has 13 personnel assigned to it, K21562 – near Powder Creek – has nine assigned, and K21567 – near Burton Creek – has four personnel working to contain it.
BCWS fire information officer Taylor Wallace said firefighters are working to keep the fires from exploding into massive blazes.
