Permanent dedicated ESS site in Kamloops being considered by government
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops’ Emergency Support Services (ESS) centre has been activated for incoming evacuees for well over a month now.
Staffed by volunteers, evacuees have been able to visit the McArthur Island Sports Centre to receive essential services and help while being displaced.
Kamloops is a host community in the interior, activating to support evacuees whenever wildfire strikes. This year, the Kamloops ESS has helped support hundreds of evacuees from fires near Boston Bar and Clinton.
