Bonaparte First Nation issues evacuation order due to Clinton-area wildfire
CACHE CREEK, B.C. — The Bonaparte (St’uxwtéws) First Nation has orderd an evacuation of properties near the massive Pear Lake wildfire.
The evacuation is in effect for all properties in IR No. 1 and 2, north of the community of Cache Creek, and all residents are being asked to leave immediately.
The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) said they are taking advantage of weather conditions in their battle against the 156,840.11-hectare blaze.
“Yesterday (August 11), elevated daytime humidity and cooler temperatures moderated fire behaviour through the day. Areas to the north received additional precipitation, while to the south there was no rain, but humidity remained elevated. Today (August 12), we are expecting similar conditions,” said the BCWS.
