This is in addition to Red Alerts in Clinton and Boston Bar, areas where evacuation orders remain in place and mail has not been delivered since.

Yellow Alerts are in place for several other communities in Okanagan and Fraser Valley areas, including:

Kelowna (issued August 6)
Chilliwack (downgraded August 5)
Penticton (issued August 5)
Abbotsford (issued August 4)
Hope (issued August 4)
Mission (issued August 4)
Vernon (issued July 31)

“A red service alert means that we are suspending delivery for the day and not sending our delivery agents out or recalling them. This includes mail collection. A yellow service alert means we are going to do our best to deliver, but there may be delays. Delivery will resume once conditions improve and it’s safe to do so,” said Canada Post.

Canada Post said residents and businesses in 70 Mile House, Boston Bar and Clinton can receive free mail forwarding for up to 12 months, if they register by August 24.

“Mail Forwarding is an important service for ongoing mail and it also provides a vital link with government and relief agencies going forward. If a customer receives regular cheques through the mail, it’s important for them to register,” said Canada Post.

“Once they register, Canada Post will be able to ship mail to a different address selected by the customer. This can be done on a short-term basis or for longer periods, even if the address is temporary.”
