Those with booked accommodations should reach out to to the provider directly and discuss their with their reservation.

“We understand this change may be disappointing and appreciate your flexibility and understanding. We look forward to welcoming you to Heartland Country Festival for a celebration of Canadian country music, mountain scenery and Sun Peaks hospitality in Nature’s Heartland,” said event organizers.

Existing tickets will automatically be transferred to the new date, which no action needed. Those who cannot attend the new dates can request a refund when the new schedule is announced.

Elsewhere, the City of Kamloops announced there will be no lifeguard on duty at the Riverside Park beach and the Brock Outdoor Pool will be closed for the day on Friday (August 7) because of the wildfire smoke.

In Merritt, Thursday’s (August 6) Music in the Park was cancelled due to poor air quality.

The city said the performing band, The Out Seer, has been rescheduled for Friday, September 11.

On Thursday, organizers also announced smoke as the reason behind the cancellation of this year’s Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival.

According to Environment Canada’s Air Quality Index, the Kamloops area has a rating of 10+ as of Friday (August 7) morning, the highest rating on the scale.
