Kamloops Fire Rescue takes down small brush fire near Sahali neighbourhood

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops firefighters doused a small brush fire that broke out near a residential neigbourhood in the Sahali area early Friday afternoon (August 7).


Kamloops Fire Rescue Platoon Chief Ken Hartt said the fire sparked in Peterson Creek near Whiteshield Crescent South.

“It was contained to 0.231 of a hectare, and we had 12 personnel on the scene and four trucks,” said Hartt.

He said it took firefighters about 15 minutes to contain the flames. Team members stayed behind to monitor the area.

“We have a crew still on scene just making sure the perimeter is secure,” said Hartt.

“BC Hydro was on the scene to check one of their poles that took some damage.”

Hartt said the cause of the fire is unknown, but the investigation is ongoing.
