Officials investigating string of suspicious fires in Shuswap Lake area
CELISTA, B.C. — The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD), RCMP and local fire departments are looking into a series of suspicious fires in the Shuswap area sparked Wednesday evening (August 5).
At about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday (August 5), Celista Fire Department was called out to a brush fire along Squilax Anglemont Road, along the north shore of Shuswap Lake.
Upon arrival, firefighters found residents holding back three small fires, spaced about 100 metres apart in the ditch.
The CSRD said firefighters then took over fire suppression from the residents who were battling the flames.
