Experienced Salmon Arm firefighter taking over as city’s fire chief

SALMON ARM, B.C. — The City of Salmon Arm will have another tenured veteran fill the role as fire chief of the Shuswap community. 

Effective Sept. 11, 2026, Carmen Guidos will serve as fire chief for the Salmon Arm Fire Department. 

Currently serving as deputy fire chief, Guidos has spent 27 years with the Salmon Arm Fire Department. The City of Salmon Arm says he has served in various roles such as a paid-on-call firefighter, lieutenant, fire dispatcher, fire prevention officer and emergency program coordinator. 

“His extensive experience, strong leadership and commitment to public safety have prepared him well to lead the department into the future,” the city states in a post to social media on Wednesday (Aug. 5).
