Air siren reactivated at 108 Mile fire hall
100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — Residents in the 108 Mile Ranch area are being alerted of the air siren at the fire hall being reactivated.
The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) says the siren will sound between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. when the 108 Mile Volunteer Fire Department receives a call.
In a post to social media Tuesday (Aug. 4), the CRD says volunteer firefighters respond to a variety of calls such as fire alarm activations, lift assists for BC Emergency Health Services, motor vehicle incidents and structure fires.
“The air siren is not a primary method of dispatching or contacting firefighters. Volunteer firefighters are notified 24 hours a day through dedicated paging, radio, and electronic notification systems. Because the siren is not relied upon to notify firefighters, it is only operating between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.,” the CRD states.
