Guichon Creek fire near Logan Lake grows in size as firefight continues

LOGAN LAKE, B.C. — The Guichon Creek fire near Logan Lake has grown to an estimated 152 hectares in size, as work to contain the fire extends into a third day.
The BC Wildfire Service says it continues to assist the Logan Lake Fire Department, who are also responding to this human-caused fire located about a kilometre west of the community. It sparked on Wednesday (July 29) afternoon and it sparked some unrest in the community given how quickly it grew.
“Today, July 31, crews will be working on containment and building guard,” the BC Wildfire Service said, in a statement. “Heavy equipment remains on site building guard on the northern flank of the fire.”
It noted that while personnel and equipment remained on site overnight Thursday (July 30), night-vision helicopters were unable to conduct tanking operations due to poor visibility.
