Mark Consuelos Reveals Kelly Ripa Out Following “Painful” Gum Surgery

Kelly Ripa is absent from Live With Kelly and Mark after undergoing gum graft surgery, her co-host (and husband) Mark Consuelos revealed Monday. “Kelly had a little bit — well, it’s not a little — she had gum graft surgery,” Consuelos told viewers alongside guest co-host Kevin Jonas. Ripa’s dentist had recommended the procedure five years ago. Consuelos noted the recovery requires Ripa to avoid talking and eat only soft foods. “She famously doesn’t feel pain… but this one hurts, so I know it’s bad,” he said. Ripa is expected to miss the show for about a week. Guest co-hosts filling in include Kevin Jonas, Mila Kunis, Pamela Adlon, and Scott Foley.
