Charron, Dolci add gold medals to Canada’s tally at Commonwealth Games

GLASGOW — Weightlifter Maude Charron and gymnast Félix Dolci added gold medals to Canada’s tally at the Commonwealth Games on Tuesday.

Charron earned her third title at the competition with a victory in the women’s 63-kilogram category.

A two-time Olympic medallist, the 33-year-old from Rimouski, Que., registered successful lifts of 102kg in the snatch and 130kg in the clean and jerk for a winning total of 232. England’s Sarah Davies Smale claimed silver with 217, while Femily-Crystie Notte of Nauru took bronze with 216.

Dolci captured his third gold medal of the Games with a winning average of 13.766 in the men’s vault, beating England’s Luke Whitehouse (13.749) and Neofytos Kyriakou of Cyprus (13.733).
