Canadian women collect silver medal in artistic gymnastics at Commonwealth Games
GLASGOW — Canada’s women’s artistic gymnastics team claimed silver at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday, finishing with a score of 157.300.
For the second consecutive day, Canada reached the podium as the Canadian women showcased their depth, consistency and resilience across all four apparatus to earn a medal.
The silver-medal team consists of Ellie Black, Gabrielle Black, Lia-Monica Fontaine, Lia Redick and Alyssa Guerrier-Calixte.
Individually, Fontaine led Canada on vault with another powerful showing, while Ellie Black delivered one of the team’s top balance beam routines. Redick shined on floor exercise with a dynamic performance, while Guerrier-Calixte added an important vault score. Gabrielle Black also made a valuable contribution to the team’s performance.
