Bonanza Creek wildfire grows to 4,000 ha., triggers evacuation order and alerts
LILLOOET, B.C. — A new wildfire east of South Chilcotin Mountains Park has grown rapidly and is threatening more properties.
The Bonanza Creek wildfire is measured at around 4,000 hectares in size as of the BC Wildfire Service’s latest update at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday (July 22). The fire nearly 20 kilometres north of Gold Bridge was discovered on Tuesday. It’s suspected to be caused by lightning.
In response, the Cariboo Regional District issued an evacuation alert for Big Creek Provincial Park and all areas as shown on its attached map.
