Anyone who resides on these properties is ordered to leave immediately. An emergency reception centre has been set up at the Clinton Memorial Hall at 306 Le Bourdais Avenue.

BCWS says crews completed a 30-hectare planned ignition along Big Bar Road Tuesday but had to put off another 100-hectare planned ignition due to on-site conditions.

BCWS has 118 personnel and 15 helicopters fighting fires on the Big Bar Complex and has deployed dozens of structure protection units.

The Pear Lake fire to the south is measured at more than 600 hectares – approximately 6 square kilometres – as of Wednesday afternoon, while the French Bar Creek fire to the west is now measured at about 134 square kilometres.

The TNRD is planning a pair of public information meetings Thursday (July 23) for residents affected by measures brought on in response to the wildfires.

An online meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday via Zoom, while an in-person meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Clinton Memorial Hall.

“These meetings will include an update from relevant agencies, including the TNRD Emergency Operations Centre, Village of Clinton, BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), BC Hydro, and potentially other groups,” said the TNRD in a release.
