Water infrastructure work to impact eastbound traffic on McGill Road near TRU

“We appreciate the patience and co-operation of residents, businesses and motorists as this work progresses.”

There will be a single day of water disruption sometime in late August, and those details will be provided to impacted residents and businesses once a date been determined.

Drivers in the area are being told expect delays and reduced speeds through the construction zone and, if possible, to use alternate routes. If that’s not an option, they’re being asked to follow all posted signage and obey traffic control personnel.

The city says transit service and emergency vehicle access will remain unaffected throughout the construction zone.

According to the city, this is the second phase of work to the McGill Watermain upgrades project. Phase one behind the Landmark Centre at 755 McGill Road began on June 22 this year and it was due to wrap up by mid-July.

Specific details about a third phase of work have not yet been publicly released, but the city says it will take place in late August two to three days in a laneway behind the Landmark Centre.

“At that time, access impacts and temporary water service disruptions will be experienced,” a City of Kamloops statement said. “Details related to the third phase of work will be shared with all impacted parties ahead of the start of work.”
