Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Becomes His Best-Reviewed Film

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has earned the highest critical scores of his career, scoring 96% on Rotten Tomatoes from 198 reviews, surpassing Oppenheimer (93%) and The Dark Knight (94%). The film, out today, adapts Homer’s ancient Greek epic with Matt Damon starring as Odysseus. Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson also star. Variety called it “a genuinely grand, gutsy vision,” while NME, Empire, The Guardian, and The Independent each awarded five stars. Deadline singled out Holland’s performance as “his strongest one to date.” The Hollywood Reporter noted the film was “uneven” but praised the ensemble cast. Nolan has dismissed race-based casting backlash as “irrelevant.”
