Warner Bros. and New Line are moving forward with a Conjuring prequel titled The Conjuring: First Communion, set to open September 10, 2027. Garrett Wareing (The Long Walk, Manifest) and Amanda Fix (High School, Orphan Black: Echoes) will play young versions of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, roles previously held by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Newcomer Rodrigue Huart is directing, with Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg returning to write the screenplay. The duo previously co-wrote The Nun II and the upcoming The Conjuring: Last Rites. That film, originally billed as the franchise’s finale, earned a series-best $487 million globally, prompting the new installment. The Conjuring universe remains the highest-grossing horror franchise in history, generating $2.7 billion across nine films.
