Man presumed drowned on Mara Lake: RCMP

SICAMOUS, B.C. — RCMP and underwater search experts are combing Mara Lake after a suspected drowning incident last Friday.

In a news release issued Monday (July 13), Sicamous RCMP say their members were called out to the lake Friday evening after 8:00 p.m. A group of friends aboard a boat discovered one of their party was missing.

Accompanied by search and rescue volunteers, police scoured the water and shoreline for the man. Searchers took up the task again on Saturday, along with the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team (URT), supported the by RCMP National Underwater Recovery Training Centre.

On Sunday, the URT used sonar to search the area where the party believed the man went missing. He was not found.
