Ricky Gervais Celebrates 25 Years Of ‘The Office’ With YouTube Special

Ricky Gervais is marking the 25th anniversary of the original British version of The Office with a YouTube special. The 65-year-old creator and star announced Monday he will revisit 25 favorite moments featuring his character, David Brent, streaming Wednesday on his YouTube channel. In a preview, Gervais described a scene from Season 2, Episode 6 — where David begs for his job back — as “the first bit of serious acting I’ve ever done.” A separate anniversary special featuring co-stars Martin Freeman and Mackenzie Crook will also air Wednesday. The Office ran for two seasons on BBC Two from 2001 to 2002, followed by a two-part Christmas special in 2003. Gervais co-created the series with Stephen Merchant.
