Shakira And FIFA Pledge $500,000 For Venezuela Earthquake Relief
Shakira has announced a $500,000 donation from the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund to support children affected by Venezuela’s devastating earthquakes. The Colombian pop star, who serves on the fund’s board, revealed the contribution in a video appeal, also urging football fans to help the fund reach its $100 million fundraising goal. The June 24th earthquakes killed more than 2,600 people, with over 60,000 still missing. Shakira previously pledged 100% of profits from the official 2026 World Cup anthem “Dai Dai” to the same fund. Other celebrities involved include Hugh Jackman, John Legend, and Elyanna. Metallica also contributed $100,000 through their All Within My Hands Foundation. The FIFA World Cup Final takes place July 19th at MetLife Stadium.
