Repairs, clean-up underway following Coquihalla Highway semi-truck fire

MERRITT — The southbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt will be down to one lane for a few more days following a semi-truck fire that broke out Friday (July 3) afternoon.

DriveBC said drivers can expect some delays between the Larson Hill and and Coldwater Road exits until at least Tuesday (July 7). It notes the fire was intense enough that it caused damage to the pavement.

It’s not clear what caused the vehicle to catch fire, which had the highway closed for several hours on Friday.

RCMP have yet to confirm if there were any injuries in the blaze.
