Disney is moving forward with Moana 3, according to Dwayne Johnson. The actor, who voices demigod Maui, confirmed the project at a press conference in Rio de Janeiro while promoting the upcoming live-action Moana, hitting theaters July 10th. “Yes, we have talked about Moana 3, yes,” Johnson said, adding that writers Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller will return to pen the script. Johnson and Auliʻi Cravalho are expected to reprise their roles. The Moana franchise has proven enormously successful — Moana 2 earned $1.059 billion worldwide after opening with a record $225 million over Thanksgiving 2024. Songwriting details remain unconfirmed, as Lin-Manuel Miranda did not return for the sequel. Plot details for the third installment have not been revealed.
