Seven to 10 days of cool, cloudy and wet conditions expected for Kamloops area
KAMLOOPS — Following a warmer and drier spring season, the Kamloops area is in store for an uncharacteristic stretch of temperatures near or below normal.
According to Environment Canada, an upper-level low pressure system from the north Pacific is moving into the southern Interior Friday (June 26). It’s expected to provide showers and cooler temperatures in the Kamloops region for seven to 10 days.
Meteorologist Matt Loney calls the brief, cooler and humid shift a welcome change for the valley bottoms as the Kamloops area has been running precipitation deficits for most of the spring.
“This is playing catchup with precipitation for the last few months where it has been quite dry. “What is unwelcome is it’s already dry and there is the potential at times for some dry lightning, if the instability is still there, but maybe not associated directly with the rainfall at the time,” Loney told CFJC Today.
