Kamloops, Tk’emlups partnering on climate adaptation grant
KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops and Tkemlúps te Secwépemc are partnering on a new grant application under the FCM (Federation of Canadian Municipalities) local leadership for climate adaptation initiative.
The funding would be used for a climate risk assessment, hazard mapping, adaptation planning, facilitation and any related consulting expertise.
“Recent events such as the 2021 atmospheric river and evacuation support from that highlight the growing risks in our area. These trends reinforce the need for coordinated long term adaption planning, rather than just responding when an incident happens,” said Ty Helgason, Kamloops’ emergency preparedness manager.
