Bear attack prompts closure of Salmon Arm trail
SALMON ARM, B.C. — The Shuswap Memorial Cemetery Trails in Salmon Arm are closed after a woman was attacked by a bear in the area on Sunday (June 21).
Salmon Arm RCMP Detachment Commander Sgt. Simon Stott said officers were dispatched to the area when the report came in shortly after 10:00 a.m.
The Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS) said the woman was walking with her off-leash dog when she encountered a black bear and her cub.
The dog chased the cub up a tree and the mother bear attacked the woman, causing minor injuries.
