VANCOUVER — Former U.S. Homeland Security secretary Kristi Noem has joined B.C. mineral exploration company NovaRed Mining Inc. in a strategic advisory role.

The company says Noem, who is special envoy to the Shield of the Americas, will support NovaRed’s mission of acquiring and advancing critical mineral exploration opportunities.

NovaRed chief executive Brian Goss says Noem’s experience working across government and industry will be valuable as it advances its corporate development strategy and evaluates new opportunities.

In addition to being secretary of Homeland Security, Noem was governor of South Dakota from 2019 to 2025 and represented South Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019.
