UPDATE: Stump Lake-area wildfire up to 149ha; 1 property evacuated

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE (4:50 p.m.): The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) has issued an evacuation order for one property directly affected by the Kullagh Creek wildfire near Stump Lake.


Occupants of 8805 Kullagh Creek Road are ordered to leave immediately. More information can be found here.

An evacuation alert is in place for approximately 30 addressed properties in Electoral Area “J” (Copper Desert Country), Electoral Area “L” (Grasslands), and Electoral Area “M” (Beautiful Nicola Valley – North) directly surrounding 8805 Kullagh Creek Road.

The TNRD has also instituted a state of local emergency in the area.

According to the latest update from the BC Wildfire Service, the fire is now measured at 149 hectares in size. There are 71 firefighting personnel responding to this blaze along with aerial resources and heavy equipment.

A suspected cause of the fire is still under investigation, the BC Wildfire Service added.
