Arson suspected in overnight landscape fire along Mission Flats Road

KAMLOOPS — A landscape fire along Mission Flats Road kept Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) busy overnight. 

KFR received the call at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday (June 9). A fire measured at around 50-by-50 feet was spreading uphill when crews arrived on scene at the 1100-block of Mission Flats Road. 

Crews knocked down the fire quickly and mopped around the edges minutes later. 

KFR Platoon Chief Ken Hartt says the suspected cause of the fire is arson. Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet told CFJC Today no arrests were made in relation to the fire.
