The B.C. government says it’s committing $20 million per year over three years to support First Nations, community forests and local forestry companies, community organizations and governments. It’s to reduce wildfire risks, restore forest ecosystems and improve the long-term health and resilience of forests in the province.

For 2026-27, the Logan Lake Community Forest Corporation received $1,090,000 for fuel treatments while Sun Peaks Resort Municipality received $310,000 for wildfire risk reduction treatments.

Elsewhere, the Lower North Thompson Community Forest Society received $373,000 for East Barriere Lake wildfire risk reduction efforts.

In the Cariboo, Williams Lake Community Forest received $177,000 for flat rock tactical plan treatments while Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN) received $477,000 for wildfire risk reduction near Slater Mountain.
