2026 Assistants Champions tournament set to hit the links in Kamloops

90 apprentice, teaching, and Class “A” professionals from across the province will be competing at the PGA of BC’s championship this year.

“The Association is very much looking forward to hosting its Assistant’s Championship at The Dunes – the Kamloops area is a nice, central location for our Assistant Pro members located all across the province, the facility itself has recently hosted provincial championships, and the team at The Dunes, led by Head Pro Bill Bilton Jr., is excited to help us continue to elevate our PGA of BC tournament experience,” said PGA of BC Executive Director Mark Strong.

PGA of BC officials said the Dunes at Kamloops is a course known for its layout carved through natural sand dunes and native grass.

“Strategically, The Dunes will deliver some surprises, so be prepared, know where the opportunities are and have a strategy that plays to your strengths. Be patient and stay in the moment,” said Doug Wilkinson, the Dunes at Kamloops Director of Golf.

The first tee off is set for 7:30 a.m. on Monday (June 8) with round two on Tuesday.

Steven Lecuyer, one of two of the Assistants Championship’s only three-time consecutive winners will be making a comeback, representing Seymour Creek Golf Centre for the 2026 tournament.

Jeremy Gauthier will be representing the Dunes at Kamloops at the event.

The PGA of BC said the Assistants Championship is the organization’s longest-running tournament, debuting in 1948 as the City Assistant Professionals’ Tournament.
