TNRD and Kamloops Search and Rescue carrying out evacuation notification exercise in Pinantan Lake

KAMLOOPS — An evacuation notification exercise is taking place in the Pinantan Lake area Monday (June 1) night. 

At around 6:30 p.m., the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) and Kamloops Search and Rescue will be practicing and improving notification procedures. 

However, in a post to social media, the TNRD says personnel will be clearly identified and not ask for, or collect, personal information. While only a portion of homes in the Pinantan Lake will receive a notification or handout and information package, the TNRD says residents in the area northeast of Kamloops are not in danger. 

The TNRD says it’s the third consecutive year the evacuation notification exercise has taken place in a rural community within the regional district.
