YKA terminal renovations to proceed even without grant
KAMLOOPS — This week, the provincial government awarded $8 million to 18 regional airports through the B.C. Air Access Program.
YKA had applied for $2 million to help complete renovations of the Kamloops Airport’s main terminal building, but was not on the list of recipients.
“We are strongly going to reapply. We were told the application was very strong,” said Bill Sarai, president of the Kamloops Airport Authority Society. “As you are aware, a lot of funding grants throughout the country on all different projects are oversubscribed and not enough money to go around to everybody. But we have a strong project. We will eventually get some money.”
