KAMLOOPS — Tourism Kamloops has launched its 2026 season and it features the return of the Loops Explorer Station for the fourth consecutive year, but in a new location at Riverside Park.

It’ll be stationed near the Riverside Park outdoor skating rink and it will be open between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Wednesday through Monday, with extended hours of 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in July and August.

“It’s an exciting time. Our team is ready to go all the way through to the Labour Day long weekend,” Lisa White, Tourism Kamloops’ director of community development and engagement, said.

The Loops Explorer Station was located at 354 Victoria Street for its first season and it relocated to 330 St Paul Street in 2024. Last year, it was located at the Sandman Centre West Plaza before making the move into Riverside Park this summer.

“Our hope was always to be in the heart of Riverside Park, so this really is a dream come true,” White added of the new location. “We’re so incredibly grateful for our partners at the city who helped make this fantastic location a reality for us, right in the centre of where all the action happens.”

White said Tourism Kamloops envisions using the space as a create a centralized hub where both visitors and locals can get information and recommendations about events and other happenings in Kamloops.

“Our team is teeming with all the exciting things to do and experience here in Kamloops,” White added. “We love to share it with visitors and locals so they feel like they can be armed and ready to enjoy Kamloops and all that it has to offer.”

Okanagan Affordable Rentals will be at the park with kayak and paddle board rentals as well as lawn games and – for the first time ever – roller skate rentals.

“The skating loop will be in action all summer long, which is fantastic,” White said, referencing the popularity of the inaugural season at the outdoor skating loop.

Tourism Kamloops will also be operating the city’s free bike valet allowing people to leave their bikes and strollers in a secure location while they’re enjoying Riverside Park.

“It’s a mix of visitors and locals coming in to enjoy this beautiful park space and the river space and the beach area all summer long,” White said. “We love to connect with everybody as best as we can to share insights and perspectives on what they can do here.”
