CHASE, B.C. — A man from Anglemont was arrested for impaired driving after uttering threats to a neighbour while wielding a crossbow.

Chase RCMP officials said someone called shortly after 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 3 to report threats involving a weapon in the Castle Heights area of Anglemont.

“The caller reported that a neighbour had approached his property while carrying a crossbow and yelling profanities, before departing in a gold Ford F-350,” said Chase RCMP.

Police officials said officers on route to the home found the Ford Pickup truck in the Celista area and saw the vehicle cross the centre line.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and noted a strong smell of liquor coming from the driver, who was seen fumbling for his wallet, noting that he was drinking at a pub.

Police issued an Approved Screening Device demand and the driver provided a breath sample resulting in a ‘fail.’

“The driver, a 65-year-old Anglemont man, was subsequently arrested in relation to the weapon and threats complaint, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats,” said Chase RCMP officials.

“He was later released when sober with a court date. A crossbow was seized by police.”
