Downtown Kamloops, Sahali 7-Eleven stores to close on May 26

KAMLOOPS — Convenience chain 7-Eleven is set to close hundreds of its locations across North America this year, and that includes two stores in Kamloops.

There are signs up at the 7-Eleven store on Seymour Street downtown and on Summit Drive in Sahali, notifying customers that the doors will close on Tuesday (May 26) next week.

While these latest closures arrive as higher prices strain consumers worldwide, there will still be three stores operating in Kamloops – on Rogers Way in Aberdeen, Tranquille Road in Brocklehurst and on Eighth Street in north Kamloops.

Reporting by the Associated Press cites earnings filings published last month which indicate 7-Eleven’s North American operator plans to close 645 stores in the 2026 fiscal year – outpacing the 205 locations it forecasts it will open during that same time.

CFJC Today reached out to 7-Eleven for comment earlier this month about the potential for closures in Kamloops but did not receive a response.

According to the company’s website, there are more than 86,000 7-Eleven stores across 19 countries today. 7-Eleven Inc., the brand’s North American operator based in Texas, oversees more than 13,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
