Power outage at water pump station places Ashcroft residents on water restrictions

ASHCROFT, B.C. — A power outage at a water pump station in Ashcroft has triggered water restrictions in the village. 

In an alert to its website Tuesday (May 19), the Village of Ashcroft says Stage 4 water restrictions are in effect for the Mesa Vista and Rural Subdivision areas until 4:00 p.m., or until the water reservoir at the Mesa Vista Water Pump Station has sufficiently recovered. 

Stage 4 restrictions prohibits garden and lawn watering, vehicle washing, power washing and filling pools or hot tubs. Residents in the Mesa Vista and Rural Subdivision areas in Ashcroft are also asked to limit indoor water use where possible. 

“These temporary measures are necessary to help stabilize reservoir levels and maintain essential water service for the community,” the village states.
