City of Kamloops launches web page to clarify roles and responsibilities within a municipal government

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops launched a new web page to help break down the roles within municipal government operations. 

The Let’s Learn section of the city’s Let’s Talk website aims to share information about the decisions and responsibilities Kamloops council and administration bears, along with the process leading up to them. 

Topics include the roles, responsibilities and limits of an elected official, how administration and staff budget and carry out services and the City of Kamloops’ place in addressing the local housing supply, the homelessness issue, crime and community safety. 

“Residents want to understand how decisions are made, why certain rules or policies exist and how they help shape the future of our community,” Kristen Rodrigue, the city’s communications and strategic partnerships director, states in a news release issued Tuesday (May 19). “Let’s Learn is designed to meet that need by offering straightforward explanations and direction to where more information can be found.”
