Kamloops RCMP recover stolen truck near Dufferin Elementary

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP officials said a heavy police presence along Hillside Drive near Dufferin Elementary School on Saturday evening (May 16) was in response to a stolen truck with stolen license plates.

A witness told CFJC Today that RCMP officers blocked access to the road with guns drawn.

Another witness on social media reported seeing a spike strip laid out along with the blockade.

Kamloops RCMP say officers were investigating the scene of a stolen vehicle.

“Yesterday (May 16), Kamloops RCMP recovered a 2024 Dodge Ram 2500 near Sunshine Court off Copperhead Drive, which was stolen overnight from the 200 block of Cantle Court,” said police officials.

“When we recovered the vehicle, it had stolen license plates affixed to it. We’re requesting anyone with information on the theft or license plate tampering to report it by calling 250-828-3000.”

As of Sunday morning (May 17), police have seized the vehicle, but no arrests have been made in connection to the theft or license plate tampering.
