Billy Idol To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award At American Music Awards
Billy Idol will receive a lifetime achievement award at the American Music Awards on May 25th. The punk rock icon joins previous recipients Diana Ross and Rod Stewart in receiving this honor. The recognition comes weeks after Idol’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction alongside Phil Collins, Oasis and Wu-Tang Clan. Dick Clark Productions executives called Idol “a true rock legend whose influence has transcended generations and genres.” The ’80s rock star created hits including “Rebel Yell,” “Dancing With Myself” and “White Wedding.” He released Dream Into It, his first album in over a decade, last year. Idol will perform a medley during the ceremony, marking his first AMA performance and first appearance since 2004. Queen Latifah hosts the show airing live from MGM Grand Arena on CBS and Paramount+ at 5 p.m. PST.
