According to a news released issued Thursday, Mounties believe they have identified the driver involved, while video of the brutal impact has begun circulating on social media as police investigate what caused the incident.

Around 11:30 p.m. Monday evening, a pedestrian crossing Lansdowne Street on Second Avenue was hit by a pick-up truck that failed to stop.

Emergency responders arrived on scene quickly and the man was taken to hospital for treatment. There is no official word on his condition.

Investigators got ahold of CCTV footage in the area that night and believe they have identified the vehicle and who was behind the wheel. However, RCMP say they are looking for any additional witness information.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call Kamloops RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
